This is one of those books you won’t stop thinking about after you turn the last page. Jacquot incorporates some recognizable themes from Alice in Wonderland that really heightens this mafia romance to meet the hype. They both have very very deep personal conflicts and traumas that move the plot along individually and intertwining them as well.

The tension and spice these two bring to the table is unmatched. Onyx and Ezekiel are some of the most Top-Tier put together characters that I have read this year. 💭 ℚ𝕆𝕋𝔻: How’s your week going so far? ✨ I’ve had a rough couple of days but it’s looking up now, can’t wait for the weekend! Oh and I really enjoyed the side characters and seeing Onyx through their perspective too! I’m excited to see how the story continues because even with everything happening they deserve a happy ending and I hope they get it. Ezekiel is possessive and had the dark vibes about him but such a good heart. She is so bad ass and tough and with a tragic past that has definitely shaped her to be who she is now. However I feel that it was part of getting to know Onyx through everyone else before getting her POV (which we don’t get until like chapter 24 I think) It just seemed like too many cooks in the kitchen. The plot twist at the end had me talking to myself aloud in shock! I picked up the second book immediately because I needed to know what happened!! I just can't wait to read the second book. I usually hate when there's a cliffhanger at the end but it did not disturb me. It kept me interested throughout the book. The plot was also really interesting, it wasn't just a love story and I liked it a lot. And I could actually feel the romantic tension growing between them. They were such a powerful and beautiful couple. I loved Maddy and Kilo, they were so interesting. Lee really did a great work with the elements inspired from Alice in Wonderland. The plot, the characters, the emotions, the pace, the spice.
